Improving Access to Eye Care in Abidjan Through Cross-Sector Partnership
On July 24, 2025, at Novotel Abidjan Marcory, the Magic System Foundation and Fortuna Mining – Roxgold Sango, with GEODRILL as one of the sponsors and technical support from the National Eye Health Program (PNSO), held a ceremony to distribute 250 pairs of corrective glasses. This followed the eye screening campaign launched during #FEMUA17, which enabled more than 1,000 people to be screened for vision problems.
Beyond the immediate health benefit, this initiative:
-
Improves access to basic eye care for underserved communities
-
Supports education and productivity by helping children and adults see clearly
-
Reduces inequality by targeting those who could not otherwise afford corrective lenses
During the ceremony, a partnership agreement was signed to:
-
Sustain the eye-care initiative nationwide
-
Structure future projects in education, health, environment, and culture
This transforms a one-off campaign into a long-term ESG commitment, strengthening governance, social impact, and future environmental actions for the well-being of communities across Côte d’Ivoire.
